MINOT, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Incredible. Exhausting. Tense.

Just a few words to describe Kidder County’s extra inning walk-off 4-3 victory over Garrison Friday night.

The last game of the day turned out to be the best. It featured a little bit of everything including a couple of gutsy pitching performances from Kidder Co.’s Blake Pfaff and Garrison’s Bennett Kamp both pitched into extra innings and came away with no-decisions. Both guys gave up three runs but kept their teams in the game.

Scoring started in the first on an RBI single from Parker Hager. Tommy Thompson grounded out later in the inning to drive in the second run and it was 2-0 Kidder C0. after one frame.

Pfaff posted scoreless frames in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd inning before running into big trouble in the 4th. The first six batters reached in the inning on five hits. All three of Garrison’s runs scored that inning, but it could have been a whole lot worse. Pfaff limited the damage to three runs and stranded the bases loaded to keep it a one run deficit.

That one run deficit was made up the next half inning when Hager drove in his second RBI of the evening to tie the game at three.

What followed was a whole lot of zeros on the scoreboard. Both teams had multiple chances to score. Garrison  will look back on Friday night in frustration because on three different occasions Garrison stranded the bases loaded. Adding insult to injury, Garrison stranded the bases loaded in the 8th inning with a chance to take the lead in extras.

It took a while, but Kidder County eventually capitalized on all the base runners left on base. Tommy Thompson and Gage Pfaff drew back-to-back walks to begin the inning and with one out it was Elijah Fallgetter knocking the walk-off hit into right field. Here’s how it sounded on the radio broadcast.
