WEST FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For the second time this season, West Fargo Sheyenne was on a three game losing streak, and for the second time this season that streak did not reach four. Valley City played the Mustangs tough, but in the end it was Sheyenne winning in straight sets 25-21, 25-9, 25-21.

In the first set, it was back and forth with neither team having more than a two point lead. After the Hi-Liners went on a 3-0 run to take a 9-7 lead. The Mustangs scored seven straight point for a 14-9 lead. They would keep that lead between 3-5 points right up to a25-21 win.

They would keep that momentum on their side in the second set. Sheyenne jumped out top a 6-0 lead and never looked back on the way to a 25-9 win.

Set three was similar to set one, neither team getting too far ahead. Mustangs would go up two, the Hi-Liners would score, the Mustangs would go up three, the Hi-Liners would score two. Finally Valley City tied it at 21with a 4 point run, but Sheyenne would score the last four points to win thw set 25-21 and the match 3-0 ending the three game losing streak.

Lexi Leroux paced the offense with seven kills. Peyton Pederson had four. Dylann Diegel had 20 assists. Defensively, Jocey Kriewald had 15 digs.  Leroux added 8 and Peyton Pederson chipped in two blocks. Olivia Olson had the lone service ace for Valley City.

Kailee Waasdorp had a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs for the Mustangs. Alexis Burke added a game-high 23 digs, and Jadyn Feist finished with nine kills and 14 digs. Kenzie Urbanec totaled 22 assists.

Sheyenne improves to 9-3 in the Eastern Dakota Conference and 11-9 overall. The Hi-Liners fall to 4-7 in the conference and 6-9 overall.

Valley City will host Fargo Davies Thursday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
