CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Carrington Area Healthy Communities Coalition focuses on three areas: promoting an active lifestyle, making healthy choices, and life in a healthy, thriving community.

Started by CHI St. Alexius Hospital, the coalition has since become a community run organization. President Michelle Seil says they’ve changed their name to reflect that.

Seil says this reflects that they’re serving the surrounding area because it’s not just about Carrington, it’s about the whole area and supporting a healthy lifestyle.

Vice President Jen Whitman says they have their three primary areas.

Seil says the group is starting to define what they’re focus is in each of those areas. She says this includes working with parks and raising funds to add to different features.

She says they also continue to promote the Kid’s Experience and promote healthier living.

Whitman pointed out that they are also awarding their Quarterly Service Award every three months to a business or organization that has been helping promote healthy living. She says they accept nominations for this recognition.

The coalition has a new website that will feature events, news, applications for service awards, and more. The website is healthycarrington.org. You can also follow the Carrington Area Healthy Communities Coalition on Facebook and Instagram.

The group is also seeking new members.
