Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington Cardinals defeated the South Border (SB) Mustangs 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-15) and advanced to the Region 3 title match on Saturday (November 14th) at Neuman Arena in Jamestown at 12:00 P.M.

The Cardinals had another balanced offensive night with Hannah Hagel (5’11 senior OH) and Sydnie Grager (6′ junior MB) drilling 15 kills each. Grager added a match high 4.5 stuff blocks and Hagel added 1.5 stuff blocks. Hagel led the Cards with 29 digs as well. Lexus Page (5’7 senior OH) added 11 kills and added 25 digs. Tessa Page (5’4 senior setter) had a match high 35 assists and 3 service aces. The Cardinals connected on 72 of 74 serves (97%) as a team.

The Mustangs had opportunities in the first two sets but could find the crucial points late in either set to find a victory. Emily Jochim (5’7 sophomore OH) paced the Mustangs with a match high 18 kills and added 23 digs defensively. Emily St. Aubin (5’8 senior OH) added 12 kills and 28 digs. Alexa Ketterling (5’5 senior libero) had a match high 43 digs. Kylie Stock (5’6 sophomore setter) had 28 assists. The Mustangs season comes to an end with an 11-9 overall record. Carrington, ranked ninth in this weeks state volleyball poll, improved to 15-4 overall. The Cardinals will face number one ranked Linton-HMB (21-0) in the Region 3 championship on Saturday at 12:00 P.M. at Neuman Arena in Jamestown.
