Lisbon, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–The Carrington Cardinal’s wrestling team finished in second place with 173 team points and five individual champions, but it was the host team Lisbon that dominated the field of 7 teams, scoring 237 team points and crowning six champions to capture the title.

Cardinal champions included Trace Hoggarth (sophomore) at 106 pounds. Hoggarth defeated Carter Zink of West Fargo Sheyenne (WFS) 10-0 in the title match and improved his record to 10-0 as well on the season. Matthew Duchscherer (junior) won the 126 pound title with a 8-6 decision over Marcus Johnson (WFS). Duchscherer also remains undefeated at 9-0 with the victory. Brecken Lura (junior) won the 145 pound title over Kellen Hoornaert (WFS) with an 8-1 decision. Lura also remains undefeated at 8-0 on the season. Michael Clifton (junior) won the 182 pound title with a 3-1 decision over Wyatt Moch of Ellendale-Edgely-Kulm (EEK). Clifton avenged his only loss of the season, Moch won an 8-6 decision at the LaMoure tournament 2 weeks ago. Clifton improved to 12-1 overall. Beau Retzlaff (senior) remains undefeated as well, improving to 8-0 with a 7-0 decision over Nick Seefeld (EEK).

Senior Treston Lura was defeated for the first time this year in the finals at 120 pounds. Lura lost a 2-1 decision to Lisbon’s Blaze Reinke (freshman). Lura is now 10-1 overall.

Other Cardinal placers and participants were Tyson Koenig (126), finished in sixth place. Corbin Clifton (8th grade) finished in fourth place at 132 pounds and Logan Weninger finished in fifth place also at 132 pounds. Kael Kovar (sophomore) at 138 pounds finished in third place. Trevor Hoggarth (senior) also finished in third place at 145 pounds. Jonathon Lura (junior) picked up a pair of wins and finished fifth at 152 pounds. Drew Schroeder (junior) finished sixth at 160 pounds and Wyatt Walker (junior) and Austin Trelstad (285) did not place. Kaulder Kvamme (junior) finished in third place at 195 pounds going 2-2.

Other tournament champions included:

113 pounds–Kashdon Wadeson (Lisbon) defeated Josiah Crandall of Central Cass (CC) by fall at 3:23 of the second period.

132 pounds–Ethan Wonser (Williams County) defeated Mike Nelson (Lisbon) 8-2.

138 pounds–Isaiah Carruth (EEK) defeated Connor Manske (WFS) 10-3.

152 pounds–Boeden Greenley (Lisbon) defeated Mekhi Dennis (WFS) by fall at 1:35 in the first period.

160 pounds–Jaden Schmidt (Lisbon) defeated Anton Carruth (EEK) 12-4 major decision.

170 pounds–Jordan Sours (Lisbon) defeated Marcus Biffert (CC) by fall :42 seconds.

195 pounds–Avery Dick (Lisbon) defeated Noah Klusmann (EEK) by fall at 1:30.

285 pounds–Cole Schneibel (Rugby) defeated Grant Lyons (Lisbon) by fall at 2:57 of the second period.
