VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Nine players played and nine players scored for Valley City as the Hi-Liners picked up a 58-50 win over Grand Forks Central Tuesday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.

Valley City used a 12-3 run in the first half to take a ten point lead and held that lead for their third win in four games.

Jadyn Dieterle hit one of two free throws with 7:16 remaining to give the Hi-Liners the lead for good at 17-16. Tesa Olson’s three pointer a minute later extended the lead to four. Samantha Hatcher’s put back bucket with 3:55 to go in the half ended the run to make it 29-19. Hatcher had 11 points in the first half. The Hi-Liners led 35-27 at the break.

The Hi-Liners started the second half on a 11-2 run capped by Hailey Thoreson’s offensive rebound bucket with 11:47 to go to make it 46-29.

The Knights would not get below double figures until the final margin of eight.

Valley City was led by Jadyn Dieterle and Samantha Hatchr with 13 points each. Dieterle had a team high six assists and Hatcher had five. As a team, Valley City ahd 15 assists on 22 baskets. Dylann Diegel had seven points, all in the second half. Peyton Pedeson had a game high 12 rebounds along with five points.

The Knights were led by Lauren Reardon with 16 points and six rebounds. Lauren Hillman added 13 points and three steals. Haley Gereau added eight points and six rebounds and Maren Aure had eight points for Central.

Valley City is now 4-10 in the Eastern Dakota Conference and 6-8 overall. The Knights fall to 1-12 in the  EDC and 1-13 overall.

Valley City trails Fargo South by two points in the EDC standings. They will travel to Fargo to play the Bruins on Friday.
