JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown softball team dominated in different facets in each of their victories on Saturday over Dickinson and Dakota State.

GAME ONE: UJ 1, Dickinson State 0

Junior Kat Miska provided more electricity on the rubber in game one against Dickinson State, striking out 18 batters and no-hitting the Blue Hawks. She had already broken the Jimmies record for most strikeouts in a game early this year with 15 against Minnesota-Crookston. Miska now has 43 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched so far, and holds an ERA of 0.35.

Katie Reisdorfer provided the only run of the game for Jamestown in the third inning when she hit her first home run of the season.

GAME TWO: UJ 14, Dakota State 2 (5 innings)

In the second game, the bats exploded for the Jimmies as they picked up 20 total hits in the win over the Trojans. UJ scored five runs in the second inning, and eight runs in the fourth to route Dakota State.

Sydney Prussia finished a perfect 4-4 on the afternoon, scoring twice. Jamestown did their damage on offense against three different Dakota State pitchers. On the mound for the Jimmies, Katie Merchant went all five innings, striking out four. Merchant improved to 3-1 on the season.

UJ now sits with a 7-3 overall record, and the Jimmies are off until March 5th when they travel to Friends University in Kansas. The first home games of the year for Jamestown is set for March 31st with a doubleheader against Valley City State.
