JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council voted to move forward with City Hall roof replacement after bids were submitted for the project.

The roof has not been repaired or replaced since City Hall was built approximately 30 years ago.

City Attorney Leo Ryan reports four bids were received, but only two met bid requirements. They were from Brand Contracting, Inc and Schumacher Construction, Inc.

City Building Inspector Tom Blackmore gave the council the total bid price.

It was requested to accept the low bid of $148,696 to Brandt Contracting, Inc. The project will replace the cedar shake shingles with a steel shingle.

The council unanimously approved the bid. Councilmember David Schloegel was not present.

In other city business, Dave Hillerud was appointed to serve as a member of the Planning Commission for a five year term to expire August 2026.

The Council also considered approve the City of receiving federal grant funds for infrastructure projects and other uses as listed in the application and authorize the city administrator, Mayor, and city attorney to sign the necessary documents.

Mayor Dwaine Heinrich explained the motion.

The motion was approved.

Mayor Heinrich also says at this time, they will also not be seeking another mask mandate as COVID-19 Delta Variant in the city and county has caused an uptick in cases.
