Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington girls volleyball team wrapped up it’s regular season with a 3-1 (25-9, 20-25, 25-21, 27-25) victory over the Medina-Pingree-Buchanan (MPB) Thunder. The Cardinals, after the opening set victory appeared to be on there way to an easy 3-0 win but the Thunder playing without several starters (national FFA convention) fought back for a 25-20 second set victory and made Carrington earn a hard fought 4 set match.

The Cardinals were paced by 6′ senior middle hitter Sydnie Grager and 5’9 junior outside hitter Haley Wolsky with a match high 16 kills each. The pair also had 3 stuff blocks each. Allison Jarrett (5’6 junior outside hitter) added 8 kills for the Cardinals. Emma Rindy (5’5 senior setter) recorded 28 assists in the match.

MPB senior middle blocker Ryleigh Martin had a team high 15 kills and a match high 5 stuff blocks. Freshman outside hitter Maddie Gefroh added 11 kills and Allison Thomas (sophomore outside hitter) added 7 kills for the Thunder. Lilly Bohl (junior setter) had a match high 29 assists for the Thunder. Alaina Bosche (sophomore libero) recorded a match high 31 digs for MPB.

Carrington (17-8-2) will start District 5 tournament play on Thursday in LaMoure as the number 3 seed and will play the Ellendale Cardinals at approximately 7:30. The entire District 5 tournament will be aired on Thunder 98.3 FM & www.newsdakota.com. MPB (9-11) will start District 6 play in Linton on  Friday as the number 5 seed and will play the fourth seed South Border at 6:00 P.M.
