LAMOURE, N.D. (newsDakota.com) – A man was taken into custody after local authorities were made aware of an abduction in Brown County, South Dakota.

North Dakota Highway Patrol Sgt. Ben Kennelly reports that a 41 year-old female was taken from her mother’s residence in South Dakota by 35 year-old Ryan Degroat.

Law enforcement utilized cell phone triangulation to locate the suspect and his vehicle, which was located at a rest area on Highway 281, 8 miles north of Edgeley just before 2:30 AM Saturday, March 19th.

Degroat was taken into custody and transported to Stutsman County Corrections pending felony charges. The female was taken to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center by ambulance and treated for injuries sustained in the incident.

Agencies that responded include LaMoure County Sheriff’s Office, BCI, Edgeley and Jamestown Ambulance.
