VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSUAthletics.com) – Valley City State’s Kendra Odegard won the women’s javelin, and Hannah Gordon placed second in hammer throw as the VCSU throwers competed Saturday at the Cougar Open in Morris, Minn

Odegard recorded a top throw of 40.35 meters (132 feet, 4 inches) to win the javelin for the second straight meet. Her top throw was more than 10 feet better than second place. Odegard currently ranks 7th in the nation after qualifying for nationals at the first meet of the season last weekend.

Gordon had a season-best performance in the women’s hammer throw, recording a top mark of 43.30 meters (142 feet, 1 inch) to take second place at Saturday’s meet. She also placed seventh in the javelin and seventh in shot put as part of a strong day.

Sadie Hansen was the top Viking finisher in the shot put as she took fifth place with her outdoor personal best mark of 11.25 meters (36 feet, 11 inches). Jade Azure added another Top 10 finish for The Vikings, leading the team in the discus with an eighth-place finish and a throw of 33.23 meters (109 feet).

Up next: Valley City State is back in action on Saturday, April 9 at the Al Bortke Open in Bismarck.
