VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCPS) – Valley City High Schools was once again ranked as a Best High School in 2022 by US News and World Report.

VCHS was ranked 3,614 out of 17,843 nationally and 7 out of 86 in North Dakota according to the latest results from state assessments, graduation rates, and college/career readiness. This is the second year in a row that VCHS has been identified as a Best High School.

VCHS Ranks #1 in Dual-Credit Courses Offered in ND.
Beyond the Best High School ranking, VCHS offers the most dual college credit courses in North Dakota with 44 credits offered to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. During the 2022-2023 school year, VCHS will be offering 57 credits of dual credit for our students. At the end of this school year, 20 students will graduate high school with more than 24 college credits and will earn a College Studies Certificate from Valley City State University. It is estimated each of these students will save over $10,000 in college tuition, room, and board because of the completion of these college credits.

Successes with the New Career Academy Pathway Program.
19 of our high school juniors and seniors are choosing to participate in our new Career Academy Pathway program in 2021-2022 with plans to enter either the workforce and/or military following graduation. With participation in this new opportunity, VCHS students complete most of their classes at the Sheyenne Valley Area Career and Technology Center and participate in career work and job-shadowing experiences in our community. This year, 5 VCHS senior students will graduate from this new program with the SVACTC center.

“Altogether, our students at VCHS have achieved tremendous success in 2021-2022,” Superintendent Josh Johnson stated. “Their hard work, persistence, and determination in and out of the classroom has been facilitated by our educators in the school district and at the Sheyenne Valley Area Career and Technology Center. With a focus and commitment on preparing students to be Choice Ready upon graduation, we expect our future ranking as a Best High School to improve in 2022-2023.”
