VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City native, Jill Jensen Kandel will be speaking about her new book, “The Clean Daughter: A Cross-Continental Memoir” on Thursday June 9th in Valley City.

She said writing is her way of making sense of a life lived on four continents and a cross-cultural marriage that has lasted for more than forty years. In her Memoir, Kandel said she had a challenging relationship with her father-in-law, a healthy man who inexplicably decided to end his life by means of legalized euthanasia in the Netherlands.

Her visit will include an author talk, book reading, and Q&A followed by book signing on Thursday, June 9th at 5:30pm in the Valley City Barnes County Public Library.

Jill Kandel began writing at the age of forty, winning both the Autumn House Nonfiction Prize and the Sarton Women’s Literary Award for her first book, “So Many Africas: Six Years in a Zambian Village.”
