JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Kevin Locke has wowed audiences globally for nearly 40 years and tonight, he’ll bring his traveling, educational performance to the area.

Locke will bring his unique, cultural perspective to Fort Seward from 4 PM to 6 PM.

Locke’s has a variety of titles including Hoop Dancer, preeminent player of the Indigenous Northern Plains flute, traditional storyteller, cultural ambassador, recording artist and educator.

He added he doesn’t see himself much as a “cultural specific” presenter.

Locke says he is excited to bring some workshopping opportunities including flute and hoop making and participants will learn basic designs and routines. He added he’ll also do some solo presentations too.

As Fort Seward celebrates 150 years, volunteers wanted to dedicate some time during their summerlong celebration with a presentation of “They Were Here First”, giving historical context to the indigenous people who were here long before the settlers and frontiersmen.

Locke says he’s looking forward to providing some area history as well.
