JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Reagan Sortland, Carson Orr, and Preston Gall all had huge performances at the plate on Tuesday night as Jamestown Post 14 swept the Minot Vistas 8-4 and 19-0.

Jamestown originally fell behind 1-0 in the top of the second but tied the game in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly from Sortland, scoring Orr to even the score at one.

In the third, Jamestown’s offense exploded, scoring five runs on four hits to push past the Vistas. Orr drove in two runs with a single and then Sortland ripped a ball into the gap in left-center to push across three more runs for Jamestown. The Eagles scored all five runs with two outs.

Minot quickly turned a five-run lead to three with a pair of runs in the fourth, but starter Mason Lunzman was lockdown from there on to get the win on the hill for Post 14. Lunzman went six innings, struck out 10 batters, and allowed just one earned run in the victory. Out of relief, Thomas Newman pitched the final inning, giving up one unearned run. Jamestown committed three errors on defense.

Sortland finished the day at the plate 1-for-1 with four RBIs and two walks. Orr went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored, and Gall was 1-for-1 with three walks and a single. Gage Orr, Max Fronk, and Connor Hoyt each had a hit and the Eagles drew 11 walks as a team.

In game two, Jamestown put up 13 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, capped off by a Preston Gall grand slam, to win 19-0 and sweep Minot. Jamestown recorded 20 hits in game two and Lunzman, Hoyt, and Payton Hochhalter all had three hits. C. Orr drove in four runs and Gall went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and the grand slam.

Hochhalter took the mound in game two, striking out eight and walking just one in the shutout. Minot only mustered five hits and one walk off of Hochhalter.

The Eagles move to 7-11 overall on the year and now head to Dickinson for a doubleheader on Thursday. Jamestown will then host Gillette (WY) on July 6th before the Phil Brown Classic July 8-10.
