A graveside service for Chris “Dale” Olson is scheduled for July 16, 2022 at Woodbine Cemetery in Valley City, ND at 10:00 am with a reception to follow at the Valley City Country Club.

Chris “Dale” Olson, age 91 of Apple Valley, MN, passed away on October 8, 2021. Dale had a long broadcasting career, having worked for radio and television stations in Dickinson and Fargo. His longest broadcasting tenure was with KOVC in Valley City, ND, where he was general manager. Dale popularized KOVC’s Noon Show and became known as the “Voice of the Valley.” Dale was an active community volunteer, having served as Valley City mayor and school board president. He also served on the Blue Cross/Blue Shield and League of Cities Boards of Directors. Dale was also a veteran of the Korean War.

Dale and his wife of 70 years, Beverly, resided in Apple Valley, MN and he remained active with the Summerhill Coop, the Minnesota Zoo, and the Medora Foundation. Dale never shied away from a meat and potatoes menu and was immensely proud of his Norwegian ancestry.

Dale is survived by Beverly, and children, Randall (Eagan, MN), Robert (Madison, WI), Roger (Cape Coral, FL), and Rynelle (Savage, MN) and 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Dale is also survived by three siblings, Joan Linde (Fargo, ND), Curtis Olson (Ivins, UT), and Janice Oppegaard (Valley City, ND) and many nieces and nephews.

The family requests memorials to the American Legion Post 1776 in Apple Valley, MN or Bethlehem Cemetery in Litchville, ND.
