VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Police Chief Phil Hatcher says officers had a busy evening around the Valley City State University (VSCU) campus Thursday, Sept. 1.

Just before midnight, officers were dispatched to Mythaler Dorm on VCSU campus for an overly intoxicated male on the 3rd floor. Officers found the subject who then became combative. Barnes County Ambulance was dispatched to attend to the medical intoxication needs of the male. The male was transported to Mercy Hospital where he continued to be combative with ER staff. Gordon-lee Ma Enyart-Martinez, an 18 year-old male from Ottertail, MN was arrested and brought to the Barnes County Jail for Assault on a Peace Officer and Emergency Responder staff as well as Contact by Bodily Fluids. Both charges are a C Felony.

Then on Friday morning at around 12:30 AM, emergency responders were dispatched to the 400 block 4th St SW for a vehicle collision with injuries. Responders found 2 occupants of a 1991 Chevrolet S10 injured and on scene. The vehicle had collided with the flood wall.

A 22-year-old female from Wishek, ND was transported to Mercy Hospital for non life-threatening injury. A 22-year-old male, Hunter Berg, from Wahpeton, ND was arrested for DUI which caused serious bodily injury. This charge is a C Felony.

“The Valley City Police Department continues to urge citizens to use caution when consuming any intoxicating substance,” Chief Hatcher stated. “Citizens are encouraged to reach out to the PD to report any instances where they believe we can help to curb this activity.
