BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown High School volleyball is headed back to the state tournament after qualifying for state with a sweep of Legacy last Friday.

The Blue Jays, who finished the year as the #3 team in the state, fell to #1 Century in five sets in the West Region Championship. Jamestown, 31-6 on the year, opens up the state tournament at 7 PM on Thursday at the Events Center in Bismarck against Fargo South.

Jamestown is the #2 seed representing the West while South comes in as the #3 seed out of the East. The Bruins went 26-8 on the year and 19-3 in the EDC. Fargo South finished as the runner-up in the regular season for the EDC.

Jamestown and South faced off to start the 2022 season with the Blue Jays winning 3-0 in a three-set match.

Three of Jamestown’s six losses on the year have come against Bismarck Century, the #1 seed in the West. The Blue Jays and Patriots would not face off until the state title game if the two teams were to meet in the winners’ bracket.

Century faces Fargo North at 1 PM to kick off the state tournament. At 3 PM, West Fargo takes on Legacy before St. Mary’s squares off against #2 West Fargo Sheyenne.
