JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The #2 University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team is headed back to Sioux City and the Round of 24 in the National Tournament as the Jimmies swept St. Ambrose in the NAIA Opening Round (25-17, 25-9, 25-12).

St. Ambrose put up a good fight in the first set but the Jimmies pulled away late in set one with good pressure from Averi Byer and Megan Moser at the service line. UJ dominated set two off the backs of seniors Anna Holen and Kalli Hegerle before putting away the Fighting Bees for good in the third set.

Anna Holen led the UJ attack with 12 kills and a .526 hitting percentage. Lexi Olson picked up eight kills while hitting .583 and Aleah Zieske also had eight kills with a .389 hit percentage. Kalli Hegerle and Paige Oswald combined for 32 of the 35 assists for the Jimmies and Ellie Holen had a team-high 11 digs. UJ held St. Ambrose to a .010 attack percentage.

With the win, the Jimmies improve to 32-2 on the year and have won 13 consecutive matches. Jamestown begins pool play on November 30th at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, IA.
