Herbert “Herb” A. Triebold, 83, Valley City, ND, passed away at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and his family on January 14, 2023, after a battle with esophageal cancer. Herb’s funeral service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 10:30 AM in Epworth United Methodist Church, Valley City. Visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00.

Herb was born November 21, 1939, to Herbert S. and Lucille (Potzman) Triebold. He went to school at Alta Township in rural Barnes County, ND and later transferred to College High in Valley City. He farmed his whole life. At the age of 6 he drove the small Ford tractor for baling and stacking hay and straw. He milked cows, raised pigs and sheep.

On June 14, 1959, he married Pat Schaff. They raised 6 children on the home farmstead. He served on the Alta Township Board for over 40 years. Herb also served on the Hillside Cemetery Board and the Peak Elevator Board. He was a past president of the Eagles and served in the ND National Guard.

Herb is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Kathy (John) Kracht, Rick (Kathy) Triebold, Denise (Bill Artis) Gruman, Diane (Art) Hagebock, Jeff (Pam) Triebold, and Duane Triebold; grandchildren, Josh (Cara), Jeremy, Dan (Casey), Scott, Eric (Ashley), Melony (John), Katie (RJ), Amanda (Jamie), Jennifer (Matt), Marandi, Jacob, and Cody; 23 great grandchildren and another on the way. He is also survived by his brother, Gary; sisters, Carol (BJ) Breske and Mary Person; and a sister-in-law, Geri Roe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandsons, Adam Aus and William Hagebock.
