The Valley City Hi-Liners were shutout for the second game in a row against the Shanley Deacons on Friday dropping the contest 13-0 in five innings.

It was all Deacons early, as Shanley raced out to a 8-0 lead in the first inning which was all kickstarted with a three-run home run off the bat of Adam Leininger who finished 3-4 on the day. Sam Ovsak also reached on every single one of his five plate appearances going 3-5 on the day with a pair of fielders choices. The other standout performer on the day for the Deacons was pitcher Michael Rostberg, who went four innings and struck out eight Hi-Liners.

The last of the scoring occurred in the fourth and fifth inning where the Deacons used five singles to push across the four deciding runs that pushed the game over the mercy rule limit. As a team Shanley tallied 14-hits on the day.

After giving up eight runs in the top of the first inning Max Mehus bounced back and pitched a pair of scoreless frames before being pulled in the fourth inning for Jack Samuelson. Gavin Gerhardt and Corbyn Powell both tallied hits for the Hi-Liners with a pair of singles. As a team Valley City drew a total of five walks on the day.

Next up for the Hi-Liners will be a road game on Saturday against Wahpeton with the first pitch set for 9:00am.
