VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Jamestown man was sentenced to 90-days in jail stemming from an incident with Valley City Police officers dating back to April 23rd of 2023.

Police Chief Nick Horner said officers received a call about a male who chased a female into a business. Officers responded to the 500 block of 2nd St. NW in Valley City and met Giles Yazzie. He was uncooperative with officers and appeared to be under the influence. After the preliminary investigation Yazzie was arrested for disorderly conduct. Chief Horner said during the arrest, Yazzie injured one of the arresting officers and spit on the other. The injured officer was treated for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported in this incident.

Yazzie was sentenced to 90-days in jail by Judge Jay Schmitz on October 10th of 2023. Yazzie was given credit for 17-days already served. Yazzie was also ordered to pay $560 in court fees. He’s now serving out his sentence in the Barnes County jail.
