Wayne Milton Bjugstad, age 70 of Sheldon, ND died January 8th, 2024 in Valley City, ND.

He was born February 13th, 1953 to Hans and B. Lorine (Strand) Bjugstad in Sheldon, ND. Grew up one of nine children on a farm in the sandhills where he loved the farm life and the outdoors. He also enjoyed working the fields, hunting, and playing basketball, football, and baseball. He enjoyed telling stories of his accomplishments on the court as a Sheldon Shadow. He also greatly enjoyed the social aspects of small town life. He graduated in 1971. He then developed his strong work ethic working for local farmers until he began to work in grain elevators, eventually for Edgeley’s grain elevator where he dedicated over 25 years. He was also proud of his volunteer work for the Edgeley First Responders.

Wayne met his wife, Debra in Jamestown. Together they raised three children together in Edgeley, ND. He loved hunting and the comraderie he experienced in a special hunting cabin at “Merrillwood.” He enjoyed watching his three children participate in sports and music. Wayne was an avid reader and enjoyed reading novels with the family.

The joy of his life was becoming a grandfather. Wayne cherished his time with his six grandchildren and always looked forward to spending time with them.

He passed away with Deb holding his hand and his children by his side, under the care of hospice. He fought Parkinson’s Disease and multiple myeloma as long as he could.

Wayne was survived by his wife, whom he lovingly referred to as Debra Ann; children, Brandon (Jenna) Bjugstad of West Fargo, ND; Cayla (James) Rose of Valley City, ND; Austin (Halee) Bjugstad of Fargo, ND; grandchildren Connor Liebersbach, Chloe Liebersbach, James Rose, Brinley Bjugstad, Addilyn Bjugstad, and Olivia Bjugstad; his siblings Dennis Bjugstad, Jean Nelson, Helen Vincent, Vern Bjugstad, Neil Bjugstad, and Gary Bjugstad as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don; and sister, Marlene.

Wayne’s family will miss his thoughtful guidance, elaborate stories and quick wit.

Memorial Service – 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2024 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, with Pastor Kristi Weber officiating.

Burial – Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
