Gwinner, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes started out strong but struggled through the second half against #7 Sargent County, falling by a final score of 66-37.

The Tornadoes started the game strong going 6/8 in the first quarter. They were within a point at the quarter 15-14 with the Bulldogs in front. That lead was tenuous at best throughout most of the second quarter as the lead would flip back and forth all the way to 25-24 Bulldogs. Then Nicholas Hansen dropped two treys back to back before finishing the half with a last second lay up to take the 34-24 lead into the half.

The second half did not go well for Oakes as they struggled from the filed with only 4 field goals on the entire half going 4/26. Meanwhile Sargent County went 8/13 for the third quarter taking a 54-30 lead. They would go another 6/11 in the fourth quarter to take the game 66-37.

The overall leading scorers were Luke Martinson and Grady Wehlander both with 13 points. The leading scorer for Oakes was Eddie Garza who went 5/10 from the field and 1/1 from the line for 11 points on the night.

The Bank North Player of the Game was Jyles Meier.
