VALLEY CITY, ND  (VCSUVikings.com)  The Valley City State University baseball team begins postseason play Friday as the No. 3 seed in the North Star Athletic Association.

The NSAA Postseason Tournament runs May 3-7 at Dakota Community Bank and Trust Ballpark in Dickinson, N.D.

VCSU finished third in the NSAA regular season standings with a 11-13 conference record. The Vikings face No. 6 seed Dickinson State (7-16 NSAA) in the opening round Friday at 2:30 p.m. MDT.

Other first round matchups include No. 2 Dakota State (17-6 NSAA) against No. 7 Mayville State (6-17 NSAA) at 11 a.m. MDT, and No. 4 Viterbo University (10-13 NSAA) against No. 5 Waldorf University (9-14 NSAA) at 6 p.m. MDT. Top seed Bellevue University (21-2 NSAA) receives a first round bye and will not play until Saturday.

The 7-team, double-elimination tournament will conclude on Monday or Tuesday, depending on how the tournament progresses.
