CARRINGTON- A fourteen run bottom of the first inning set the stage for another easy win for Carrington softball, this time clinching a home playoff game with a five-inning 25-4 win over Larimore on Thursday afternoon at Cardinal Softball Park.

After falling behind in the top half, the Cardinals (3-4) sent twenty batters to the plate in the first, scoring fourteen times on three hits, two errors, eleven walks, and two hit batsmen in building a 14-1 lead.

Brynn Smith went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored and five RBI in the win.  Calleigh Hewitt tossed a complete game, surrendering six hits and four runs (three earned) while walking three and punching out five and added two triples and three runs scored in the win.

With the result, the Cardinals will host Larimore on Thursday, May 16th at a time TBD in a Region II softball play-in game.  Carrington is next in action Friday taking on Harvey Wells County in Fargo as part of Midseason Madness IV.
