JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Four members of the Jamestown High School DECA chapter traveled to Anaheim, CA to compete in the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC). Over 26,000 DECA members from around the world competed over the four-day conference in individual and team events.

JHS DECA members Carson Muggli and Nevaeh Romfo, placed in the top 30% of competitors in their events, Principles of Business Management and Restaurant and Food Service Management, respectively.

“Our members know that a trip to ICDC will be fun, but that it’s no vacation.“ JHS chapter advisor Shane Ede said, “They tirelessly fundraised and studied to compete and their results speak for themselves.” “Our seniors were absolutely pivotal in the continued growth and success of our chapter this year,” Ede said, “from their recruiting efforts to running our meetings, and, ultimately, to being excellent role models for the younger members on how to be successful in DECA. They both leave big shoes to fill.”

Senior Regan Keller, a JHS DECA member and North Dakota DECA Vice President, placed in the top 30% in her Apparel and Accessories event, and Senior, Cammie Veldkamp, who served as the JHS DECA chapter president this year, was one of only three members of the nearly 200 North Dakota members to reach the stage as a top 10 finalist in their event. Cammie competed in the Entrepreneurship event and brought home medals as a top 10 finalist in both of the role play portions of her event.

JHS DECA would like to thank their Platinum and Gold sponsors this year; Knights of Columbus, James River Eagles Club, ReMax/Now Jamestown, R.M. Stoudt, Triumph Inc., and Progress Enterprises. “Once again, the city of Jamestown really stepped up to help support our young business and marketing leaders.” Ede said. “The generosity of the many businesses who donated made the trip possible so that our members could show how well we can compete on the international stage.”
