JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The League of Women Voters of North Dakota in Jamestown will host candidate forums for local races on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse.

Candidates for the Jamestown City Council and Jamestown Park Board will present their qualifications and answer questions from the public. Questions can be submitted online via a form available at facebook.com/LWVND or on note cards during the forum. The event is free and open to the public.

June 11, 2024, marks North Dakota’s state primary and city election day, deciding the city council and park board races. To vote in North Dakota, individuals must be U.S. citizens, residents of North Dakota for at least 30 days, and at least 18 years old on Election Day. North Dakota does not require voter registration, but a valid form of ID is necessary to cast a ballot.

Voters can learn about their candidates through the League of Women Voters of North Dakota’s voter guide on VOTE411.org. By entering their address on the homepage, voters can see the races and candidates on their ballot and read candidates’ responses to questions.
