DICKINSON- Usually when a team is down 11-3 with one out left, it’s clearly not going to be their day.

Jamestown softball doesn’t subscribe to “usually” though.

The Bluejays scored seven unearned runs after two outs in the seventh to turn that very deficit into an opportunity with the tying run on before falling 11-10 to Bismarck in the opening round of the 2024 WDA Softball Tournament.

Lucy Falk singled to begin the inning, but the next two were retired.  Sophia Bond hit a ball that was misplayed by Bismarck 3B Cameron Braun.  Brooke Jackson then launched a three-run homer to cut the Demons lead to 11-6.  Maddie Hoff then singled, Torrie Mack doubled and after Mackenna Nold walked, Addy Graves launched a grand slam to make it 11-10.  Falk then reached on another error by Braun before Avery Graves flied to the warning track in center for the final out.

Jamestown will now face Bismarck Century at 4:30pm in an elimination game.  The game can be heard on Thunder 98.3 and at https://streamdb8web.securenetsystems.net/cirrusencore/98SPORTS
