JAMESTOWN – In such a good start to the season, Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey still can’t solve Minot State.
One goal late in the first period and two early in the second were enough for the fourth-ranked Beavers Friday in a 3-1 win over fifth-ranked Jamestown at Wilson Arena. Two of the Jimmies’ three losses this season have come to MSU.
With just 21 seconds left in the opening period, Minot State (15-1-1-1) took the lead on a power play goal by Joey Moffatt. Early in the second period, the Beavers struck twice in just 35 seconds, with Reid Arnold scoring at 49 seconds and Austin Clyne making the score 3-0 for Minot State at 1:24.
Jamestown (15-3-0-0) managed only a Chase Visser goal, his third, at 1:09 of the third period, set up by Brad Fortin and Matthew Poole.
Jimmies goalie Brandon Weare made 30 saves. Minot State outshot Jamestown 33-32.
The teams will play again Saturday night at All Seasons Arena at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds in Minot.
