
BISMARCK – Late season improved play carried over for Jamestown Blue Jay Boys Basketball Thursday in their AA West Region quarterfinal game — for six minutes. Then, the state’s top-ranked boys team again left the Blue Jays behind.
Century used a 31-2 run in the first half to defeat Jamestown 74-36 in the Main Arena of the Bismarck Event Center.
In the teams’ two regular season meetings, the Patriots (21-1) started the game with runs of at least a 26-point advantage. But in this game, Jamestown (5-18) led 12-10 after six minutes of play. Then, Century’s big run came as Jamestown didn’t score a field goal for 13 and a half minutes. Century led 41-17 at halftime, then led by as many as 40 points in the second half.
Camden Kraemer scored 16 points for Century with three three-pointers and three assists. Drew Kempel scored 15 with seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Gibson Kinnebrew also hit three threes and tallied 13 points with five rebounds. Garrett Nissley scored 11.
Thomas Newman led Jamestown with eight points. Braxton Perkins scored six and Madden Skunberg had five.
On Friday in an elimination game, the Blue Jays will meet Mandan, whom they defeated in Jamestown during the regular season. The game will be played in Exhibit Hall D of the Bismarck Event Center. Coverage of Friday’s game will begin at 12:45 PM on The Voice of the Blue Jays, Jamestown 107.1.
