
Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes are still in search of their first win of the young baseball season as they fall to the Kindred Vikings by a final score of 6-4.
The game started out well for Oakes with Michael Hoistad pitching a solid 6 innings giving up only 1 unearned run. The Tornadoes also earned an unearned run with James Throener reaching on an E6 and stealing 2 bases before being driven in by a Chris Titus sac fly in the 1st inning. After Kindreds run in the top of the 2nd there would be no scoring until the bottom of the 5th when Throener would double and be driven in by Harry Neustal. Titus would then single and Hoistad would walk bringing up Braxton Wyckoff who would drive them in with a 2 RBI single up the middle making it a 4-1 game tille the 7th.
The 7th saw Titus come into attempt to finish off the game however the first 5 batters for Kindred would all reach and score with 3 hits (2 doubles and a leadoff triple) and 2 walks making the game 6-4 for the final as Oakes would be unable to get a hit off of Eli Maack.
The winning pitcher would be Eli Maack (2.0 IP, 0 H, 3 BB’s, 6 K’s) who came in relief of Jack McDonald (5.0 IP, 3 H, 2 BB’s, 5 K’s, 4 R, 3 ER).
The losing pitcher was Chris Titus (.1 IP, 3 H, 2 BB’s, 5 R. 5 ER) who came in for Michael Hoistad (6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 9 K’s, 1 R, 0 ER). Deagan Roerich (.2 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s) came in relief of Titus in the 7th.
The Bank North Player of the Game was Michael Hoistad.
