JAMESTOWN – A swap of shutouts dropped Jamestown Jimmie Softball a game behind Dickinson State in the loss column.

Jamestown defeated Bellevue 3-0 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at Trapper Lawrence Field, but the Bruins came back for a 5-0 defeat of the Jimmies in game 2.

Through Saturday, Dickinson State led the NSAA with a 12-2 record, with Jamestown at 13-3.

Game 1: Jamestown 3, Bellevue 0
Hope Ransome (9-6) pitched a four-hit shutout, her second of the season and third of her career for Jamestown (29-13, 13-2 NSAA). Ransome struck out three and did not walk a batter.

Maddie Spaeth gave UJ a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single. Jamestown scored their other runs in the fifth on RBI doubles by Lauren Weigel and Kayla Quintanilla.

Katie Cunningham (12-7), who had shut out Jamestown on Friday, allowed five hits for Bellevue (24-17, 9-6).

Game 2: Bellevue 5, Jamestown 0
Mariah Unverzagt (6-1) gave up seven hits for Bellevue (25-17, 10-6 NSAA), but hurled the shutout as Jamestown (29-14, 13-3) stranded nine runners.

Bre McMurtry hit a two-run home run in the first inning for the only runs the Bruins needed. Laila Fiscus delivered an RBI double in the fifth and Kaitlyn Fisher hit a two-run homer in the seventh.

Abby Blair (9-7) pitched four innings, giving up three runs and five hits with three strikeouts.

Jamestown will host Dickinson State in the season’s final two home games on Friday.
