VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Jr/Sr High School is proud to celebrate the artistic achievements of five of its students whose work was selected for inclusion in the prestigious North Dakota Juried Student Art Show—also known as the Governor’s Show.

Each spring, K-12 teachers from across North Dakota submit student artwork to the competition, which is juried at the Taube Museum of Art in Minot. This year, approximately 1,000 pieces were entered, showcasing the extraordinary talent of young artists across the state.

From these entries, a select few are honored with distinguished awards:
• Three pieces are chosen for the Governor’s Award and will hang in the North Dakota
Governor’s office.
• Eight are displayed in the offices of North Dakota’s Senators.
• Five are exhibited in the offices of North Dakota’s Representatives.
• 101 artworks are selected for the Traveling Exhibition, which will be displayed in
museums, galleries, malls, and other public venues throughout the state for one year.
• In addition, four students per age group receive a People’s Choice Award, selected
through social media voting.
Valley City Jr/Sr High School extends a special congratulations to the following five students
whose artwork was chosen for the Traveling Exhibition:
• Addie Tufte (8th Grade) – Thunderbolt 1003, a stunning pointillism pen piece featuring
a local warning siren, powerful in both subject and technique.
• Trenton Giesler (9th Grade) – A beautifully rendered colored pencil work of a deer skull
resting on a fence, illuminated by the hues of a peaceful sunset.
• Rachel Drummond (8th Grade) – Climbing Through Childhood, a deeply imaginative
colored pencil drawing depicting a mountain climber silhouetted against a rock face that
transforms into a child’s bedroom scene.
• Abby Pederson (7th Grade) – Victorian Adventure, an acrylic painting on canvas paper
featuring a storybook-like Victorian mansion, bursting with fairy tale charm and detail.
• Alivia Even (11th Grade) – Virescent, a self-portrait in shades of green, acrylic on
canvas, capturing a powerful and personal artistic vision.

“We are incredibly proud of all 25 students selected to represent Valley City Jr/Sr High in this year’s show,” said Stephani Krueger, Valley City J/Sr High School Art Teacher “To have five of our students chosen for the Traveling Exhibit is a tremendous honor and a reflection of their hard work, talent, and creative spirit.” The Valley City community applauds these students for their dedication to the arts and their outstanding achievements on a statewide stage.
