VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Adopt-a-Street program helps enhance the image of Valley City. Presently there is a need for two (2) additional organizations to adopt a street.

Sharon Buhr, chair of a volunteer group called Image and Beautification for Valley City invites organizations and churches to step up and volunteer for either of the areas in need. Call Buhr at 701-840-0973 or call city hall at 701-845-8131 to volunteer.

All organized groups are invited to participate, such as 4-H, Boys/Girls Scouts, churches or church groups, businesses, and individual family and friend groups, etc.

The basic premise is simple:
1. Pick up trash in a specific street and/or roadside area.
2. Pick up a minimum of once a year (early spring…required; fall…suggested)
3. Provide your own regular trash bags.
4. Contact Valley City Public Works at 701-8445-0380 as to the date of garbage pick-up and location of debris/garbage picked up by your organization. They will pick up with no charge.

The Valley City Image and Beautification Committee gives hearty thanks to the 14 organizations who have participated in the past: Kiwanis Club, Lafarge Dakota Inc, Valley City Equipment, Cass County Electric, AmericInn, Open Door Center, SMP Health-St. Raphael, Eagles Aerie 2092, VC Optimists, Barnes County Wildlife Federation, VC Education Association, Young Professionals Network, Debbie Gabel Memorial, and Darwin Suhr Family.
