JAMESTOWN – Tony DeAnda, University of Jamestown Women’s Wrestling Head Coach from 2011-17, was named Monday to return to that position.
In DeAnda’s first stint as the Jimmies’ head coach, he coached WCWA All-American Amy Fearnside to a runner-up finish at 109 pounds. He coached two place winners at the 2017 UWW Under-23 Championships.
During those six seasons, DeAnda coached 16 WCWA All-Americans, six WCWA scholar-athletes and six Olympic team trial qualifiers.
DeAnda has spent the last five seasons as the first women’s wrestling head coach at Northern Michigan University.
From 2018-20, he was the women’s and men’s wrestling coach at Presbyterian University. DeAnda was the women’s wrestling head coach at the University of Providence in the 2017-18 season.
DeAnda replaces Amy Golding, who resigned March 26 after three seasons as the Jimmies’ head coach.
