JAMESTOWN – For two and a half weeks, most matters went right for Jamestown Blue Jay Baseball. On Tuesday, very few did.
Jamestown, who entered play on a nine-game winning streak, was swept by Century 8-3 and 14-3 at Jack Brown Stadium.
Game 1: Century 8, Jamestown 3
Century (8-7-1, 8-5 WDA) took control of the game by scoring five runs in the first inning and three more in the second. Joey Kraljic, Cash Weisenberger, Andrew Brubakken and Jaxon Hermann drove in runs, but one run scored on a error, another scored on a passed ball and two scored on wild pitches.
Braxton Perkins delivered a sacrifice fly for the first run for Jamestown (10-5, 9-4) in the second inning. In the fifth, Brenner Weber was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Edison Walters singled in a run.
Derek Hatlewick (2-2) allowed eight runs and five hits, walking two in two innings. Cayleb Miller pitched four scoreless innings of relief.
Game 2: Century 14, Jamestown 3 (5)
Six-run innings in the third and fifth innings by Century (9-7-1, 9-5 WDA) doomed Jamestown (10-6, 9-5).
Carter Vig and Hermann each drove in two for the Patriots. Maxon Opdahl pitched a three-hitter.
All of the Jamestown runs came in the fifth inning. Thomas Newman hit a two-run single and Jaxon Kolpin drove in one with a single.
Kolpin (3-1) allowed 11 runs in four and a third innings, but only three were earned as Jamestown committed five errors.
The Blue Jays will play Thursday at Minot North.
