CARRINGTON (NewsDakota)- It was the first of a hugely important stretch run for Carrington softball, and it started with an important win.
Freshman Maara Kutz had three hits, three RBI and was one of four Cardinals who scored two runs each as Carrington defeated Larimore 12-2 in five innings on Thursday at Cardinal Softball Diamond.
After Kutz singled and advanced to third on an error in the first, she would score on a dropped third strike for the first of three first inning runs for the Cardinals (5-3, 4-1). In the second, Carrington put it away with five runs on three hits, as they took an 8-0 lead.
Calleigh Hewitt battled through a complete game one-hitter while walking four and striking out five to pick up her fifth win, and added two hits and two RBI at the plate.
The Cardinals face Harvey/Wells County on Saturday in Fessenden.
