
DICKINSON – Jamestown Jimmies sophomore pitcher Hope Ransome was named Pitcher of the Year and Head Coach Kevin Gall was named Coach of the Year, part of the NSAA Softball postseason awards announced Thursday at Buck Auditorium in Kleinfelter Hall on the Dickinson State campus.
Ransome, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, is tied for fourth in the conference in victories and third in ERA. Ransome is 10-7 with a 2.58 earned run average, seven complete games, five saves and 126 strikeouts in 130 innings.
Gall, in his 25th season as Jimmies’ head coach, has 715 wins and has earned this honor six times. He was also named as a conference coach of the year in 2001, 2005, 2009, 2012 and 2018.
Ransome is joined on the all-NSAA first team by shortstop Maddie Spaeth, center fielder Trinity Gregg and catcher/DH Kayla Quintanilla.
Spaeth, a junior from Sabin, Minnesota, has had a breakout offensive season, batting .422, fourth best in the NSAA. She leads the conference with 49 runs batted in and has 13 doubles, four triples and two homers.
Gregg, a junior from Barnesville, Minnesota, is the fifth best hitter in the league at .401, with two home runs and 17 RBI.
Quintanilla, a senior from Moreno Valley, California, is capping off a solid four-year career by batting .378 with 15 doubles, four triples, three homers and 42 RBI, fourth in the NSAA.
Pitcher Maddie Hairgrove was named to the second team. Hairgrove, a freshman from Tucson, Arizona, is 10-1 with a 2.77 ERA.
Ransome was named as the pitcher on the NSAA Gold Glove team.
Sydney Grendler was chosen as the Jimmies’ Champion of Character.
