VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Valley City’s (District 130) Street Improvement project was successfully protested out by affected property owners earlier this year.
Under the plan, approximately 10 city blocks would be fully and or partially reconstructed. Valley City property owners said they didn’t want to see sidewalks replaced that have useful life remaining. The property owners say they’re looking for fiscal responsibility and transparency from the city of Valley City.
On Monday, May 5th, KLJ project manager Chad Petersen gave a presentation to city commissioners on several resolutions to create four improvement districts for this project. District-131 would create a paving improvement project. District- 107 would create a water improvement project. District-71 would create a sanitary improvement project. And District-57 would create a storm improvement project.
City Administrator Gwen Crawford said if the street improvement project is approved after another protest period, the plan is to complete the 10 city block project over a two-year period. The second protest period is tentatively set for June 2025, notification letters will be going out to affected property owners before the meeting. The date of that meeting will be announced by the KLJ engineering office.
