MAYVILLE (NewsDakota)- The Carrington Cardinal softball program is one win away from the promised land of Fargo and the Class B State Tournament after a win over Pembina County North on Monday at May Port-CG High School.  This followed a loss to Thompson in the semifinals.

2B Semifinal: Thompson 19 Carrington 6 (5)

A seventeen run bottom of the fourth inning turned around a 4-2 deficit and sent the Tommies back to the Regional Final.  Carrington and Thompson each scored a run in the first, and after the Tommies scored in the third, the Cardinals (9-8) scored three runs on an error in the fourth.  But then Thompson sent 21 to the plate in the home half, scoring seventeen to put the game away.  Calleigh Hewitt homered in the fifth for Carrington.

2B State Qualifying Semifinal: Carrington 16 Pembina County North 8

A home run barrage carried the Cardinals back to the State Qualifying game.  Maara Kutz hit the first of her two homers on the games third pitch and Calleigh Hewitt and Ella Volk added first inning dingers for a 6-0 lead as Carrington pounded out sixteen hits.  Hewitt picked up the win in the circle and stranded thirteen Grizzlies on the bases.
