
BISMARCK (NewsDakota)- After a week of delays, the Region 3B Baseball Tournament began on Wednesday at the Sanford Sports Complex in the Capital City with opening round games.
GAME ONE: (3) New Rockford-Sheyenne 9 (2) South Border 4
The Rockets scored fife in the fifth on just one hit against reliever Berkley Frantz to overturn a three-run deficit and send the defending champs to Thursday. Thomas Allmaras had a three-run triple a four-run seventh that put the game away. Frantz had two run-scoring triples for the Mustangs, who face Kidder County later in an elimination game.
GAME TWO: (1) LaMoure-LME 12 (4) Carrington 2 (6)
The top-seeded Loboes scored in every inning in moving onto the Semifinals against NR-Sheyenne in a rematch of the 2024 Regional Final. Colby Thielges had three hits and three RBI while Mason Warcken drove home two for the Loboes. Tate Wolsky and Ethan Roller drove in the Cardinal runs in the loss.
ELIMINATION GAME: (2) South Border 10 (5) Kidder County 7
The Mustangs scored the games’ last eight runs to come from behind and advance to face Carrington. Parker Salwei and Berkley Frantz each had two RBI in the win while Donaven Martin had two hits for the Wolves, who see their season come to an end.
ELIMINATION GAME: (2) South Border 6 (4) Carrington 3
A four-run bottom of the sixth inning aided by three Carrington errors advanced the Mustangs to Thursday. Carrington had taken a 3-2 lead on a double-error that scored two runs in the fifth inning before the decisive rally. Caleb Kosiak threw a complete game for the win. Jacob Boeshans was 2-for-3 with a walk for the Cardinals.
