Marilyn Pritchert, 93, Valley City, ND passed away February 3, 2025, at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and her family.  Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Valley City, Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be in St. Catherine Cemetery.  The Lerud Mathias Funeral Home is assisting Marilyn’s family with arrangements.  An online guestbook is available on her tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com

Marilyn was born March 20, 1931, to George and Burdella (Romelfanger) Brewer, the third oldest of their seven children.  She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Kensal, ND.  Marilyn played basketball and was a 1949 graduate of Kensal High School.

After graduating, she moved to Valley City, ND where she worked at Woolworth’s.  From there she moved on to become a bookkeeper at a local bank.

She married William “Bill” Pritchert and in 1962, they bought a small farm where they raised cattle, crops and nine children all while Bill worked full time on the Soo Line Railroad.  He passed away January 19, 2007.

Marilyn was a homemaker for many years.  She enjoyed sewing and embroidery into her 90’s.  For many years, she volunteered at the Nearly Nu Store.  She was a member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary where she worked in the gift shop.  Marilyn also volunteered at the Barnes County Museum.

Many hours were spent watching her grandchildren play hockey.  She loved seeing and spending time with her great grandchildren and watching them grow.

Marilyn is survived by 5 sons, William, Jr. of Valley City, Dennis (Hannalore) of Furth, Germany, Kirke (Sharon) of Emmett, ID, Richard of Valley City, and Terry (Caroline) of Colorado Springs, CO; 3 daughters, Toni (Mark) Swanberg of Valley City, Kathy O’Brien of Mayville, ND, and Lori (Dave) Pritchert Johnson of Spokane, WA; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Donald of Redondo Beach, CA; son-in-law, Dan Hovde; 3 sisters-in-law, Frances Brewer of Jamestown, ND, Pearle Pritchert of Jamestown, and Barbara Gay of LaPorte, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Rochelle Hovde; brothers, Gerald, George, Kenneth; and sisters, Joyce Ravnass and Janet Carr.
