OH Range features three popular shooting disciplines—Trap, Skeet, and Five-Stand—all open to the public with no membership fees required. It’s a pay-as-you-play setup, making it easy for anyone to stop in and enjoy a round or two. Pricing is straightforward: $10 for shells and $7 for clays, for a total of $17 per round. And if you prefer to bring your own shells, you’re more than welcome to do so.

OH Range is currently open Tuesday nights from 4:30 PM until close, and Friday nights will be added with the same hours starting May 30th. The welcoming atmosphere, affordable pricing, and open-door policy make OH Range the ideal place for individuals, families, and friends to come together, enjoy the sport, and build lasting memories.

A summer highlight you won’t want to miss is our Black Light Shoot on June 28th. This exciting nighttime event is open to everyone, with food being served starting at 8:00 PM and the shooting kicking off at 10:00 PM. All three disciplines—Trap, Skeet, and Five-Stand—will be offered under black lights for a truly unique and unforgettable experience. Cost is $25 per round, and it’s a great opportunity to experience shooting sports in a whole new way while enjoying great food and community fun.

Also returning this summer is our annual 8-week Summer Trap and/or Skeet League, now open for registration at the range. You will have 9 weeks to shoot 8 scores and are able to shoot ahead or behind in weeks. With a low entry fee of $50 per team or $10 per individual, the league is designed to be welcoming and accessible for all. Everyone gets to participate, whether you sign up as part of a team or register solo. Individual shooters will be paired up to form teams, ensuring no one is left out.

This league is open to all skill levels and is especially friendly to beginners. Children are encouraged to join, making it a great family activity that blends outdoor fun with the fundamentals of shooting sports. Each week, participants shoot and compete in a relaxed atmosphere, with prizes awarded at the end of the season for High Male, High Female, and High Team. The focus remains on enjoyment, improvement, and connection with fellow shooters.

Don’t worry if you’ve never shot competitively before—this league is built with first-timers in mind. Experienced shooters and NRA-registered shotgun coaches are always on hand to help guide and support new participants. All you need is a willingness to learn and a desire to enjoy a great time outdoors.

At OH Range, we believe strongly in fostering the next generation of shooters. That’s why we proudly partner with Barnes County Wildlife (BCWL) to host a youth shooting program aimed at introducing kids to the sport in a safe, structured, and encouraging environment. This program helps youth learn the fundamentals of clay target shooting while promoting responsibility, discipline, and sportsmanship. We believe that investing in young shooters is key to the future of shooting sports.

Safety is always a top priority at OH Range. We have Registered Range Safety Officers (RSOs) on-site during all open shooting hours to ensure that every participant, from beginners to seasoned shooters, can enjoy their time at the range with peace of mind.

OH Range isn’t just about recreational shooting—it’s the home to two competitive shooting teams that reflect the range’s dedication to youth development and sportsmanship. The Valley City High School Clay Target Team (VCHS), coached by Sandi Mielke, has proudly called OH Range home for the past 12 years. Competing in Trap, Skeet, and Five-Stand, the team continues to grow and proudly represent the community. The Valley City State University (VCSU) Shooting Sports Team, led by students and mentored by Nick Galt, has made OH
Range its home for the past 4–5 years, competing in both Trap and Skeet and fostering a strong collegiate presence in the sport. Beyond the shooting stations, OH Range offers a variety of amenities to enhance your visit. The range features restrooms, a heated and air-conditioned range office for comfort in all seasons, cold beverages, ice cream treats, and plenty of friendly faces ready to help newcomers and regulars alike feel at home.

As summer rolls in, there’s no better time to get involved.
