MORTON COUNTY, N.D. (NDHP) – On Saturday, June 7, the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) along with the Morton County Sheriff’s Office, will conduct a DUI checkpoint at a predetermined location in Morton County. Following the checkpoint, the North Dakota Highway Patrol will conduct saturation patrols in Morton County.

Impaired driving and impaired driving related motor vehicle crashes threaten the safety of everyone traveling on North Dakota’s roadways. Through May 13 of this year, there have been twenty-one fatal crashes on North Dakota roads; four of the fatalities involved alcohol. The sobriety checkpoint and saturation events are part of the NDHP’s ongoing efforts to maintain roadway safety for the traveling public. NDHP Sgt. Brian Mehlhoff stated, “Every time we stop an impaired driver, we might be preventing a tragedy. Make the right choice: drive sober or don’t drive at all.”

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is committed to the Vision Zero strategy which means making safe, responsible choices behind the wheel to protect yourself, your passengers, and everyone on the road. Results from these planned enforcements will be posted to the news section of the NDHP website the week following the event.
