Bob was born January 25, 1940, in Eureka, SD, to Theodore and Emma (Engel) Stroh. He began his education in Streeter, ND, and in 1952, his family relocated to Valley City, where he graduated from Valley City High School in 1958. During his school years, Bob was a standout athlete, participating in football, basketball, and American Legion baseball.

In November 1959, Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably until his discharge in May 1963. After returning home, he worked as a North Dakota Highway Patrol Officer before moving to California, where he discovered a lifelong passion: car racing. He raced and worked in the pits for fellow drivers, fully immersing himself in the racing community.

In 2005, Bob and his wife Mary moved back to Valley City. Known for his voracious love of reading and engaging conversations, Bob was always eager to share stories and knowledge with others.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Christopher (Sarah); granddaughter, Brynn; and sister, Kathy. He was preceded in death by his parents.
