
JAMESTOWN – In their 2025 Legion AA league opener, the Jamestown Eagles fell victim to good pitching, then received good pitching of their own.
Mandan stopped Jamestown 5-2 in the opener of a doubleheader Tuesday at Jack Brown Stadium before the Eagles won the second game 9-2.
Game 1: Mandan 5, Jamestown 2
Mandan starter Gage Miller allowed just a run and two hits in four and a third innings with six strikeouts. Jack Tooke drove in three runs with a two-run single and an RBI groundout for the Chiefs (4-4, 1-2 AA).
Jamestown (4-4, 0-1) drew seven walks, but stranded eight runners.
Game 2: Jamestown 9, Mandan 2
Thomas Newman (1-0) struck out 11 and combined with Adam Sortland on a one-hitter for the Eagles (5-4, 1-1).
Brenner Weber drove in three runs for Jamestown, including two with a single in a four-run third inning. Newman hit a two-run single.
Jamestown will continue AA play on Thursday against the Minot Vistas at Corbett Field before a week of games in Canada.
