
MINOT – A lot of offense still wasn’t enough for the Jamestown Eagles.
Jamestown was swept by the Minot Vistas in a Legion baseball doubleheader Thursday at Corbett Field 8-6 and 10-8.
Game 1: Minot 8, Jamestown 6
After Jamestown (5-5, 1-2 AA) scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie, Minot (8-2, 2-1) answered with six runs in the home half. A passed ball scored the Vistas’ first run, followed by a two-run double by Carson Deaver, an RBI single by Brody Mueller, a run-scoring error, and a go-ahead sacrifice fly by Levi Balas.
Hudson Rode had given Jamestown a 2-1 lead in the top of the inning with an RBI double. Mason Joesph then slammed a two-run double. Another run scored on a passed ball and Jaxon Kolpin drove in the last tally with a single.
Braxton Perkins (0-2) allowed seven runs and six hits in four innings.
Game 2: Minot 10, Jamestown 8
Down as many as six runs, Jamestown (5-6, 1-3 AA) came back with two runs in the fifth inning and four in the six to cut the lead for Minot (9-2, 3-1) to its final margin.
Kolpin hit an RBI double in the fifth. In the sixth, Cody Busch drove in a run with a single, a second run scored on an error, Kale Verke notched an RBI double and Bennett Goehner drove in a run with a ground ball.
Minot led 2-0 after a half-innning, but then scored three in the first, six in the second, and a run in the fourth. Kellan Burke and Mueller each drove in two runs for the Vistas.
Cayleb Miller (0-2) allowed nine runs in an inning and a third.
Jamestown will begin a week of games in Canada in Friday, starting play in the Mary Oikawa Memorial Tournament in Lethbridge, Alberta against the host Lethbridge Elks.
