
WILLISTON – After a week in Canada, the Jamestown Eagles returned to AA Legion league play, but dealt with a stalled offense.
Williston swept Jamestown in a doubleheader Friday at Ardean Affeadt Stadium 12-1 (5) and 2-0.
Game 1: Williston 12, Jamestown 1 (5)
The game was decided early, with Williston (7-9, 4-1 AA) scoring all their runs in the first three innings with a run in the first, four in the second and seven in the third.
Max Heen was 4-for-4, including a triple, and three RBI to lead the Keybirds’ offense.
Thomas Newman hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth for the only run for Jamestown (6-12, 1-4).
Game 2: Williston 2, Jamestown 0
Hudson Rode pitched a two-hitter for Jamestown (6-13, 1-5 AA), but one of the Williston hits was an RBI single by Conor Ekblad to drive in the first run for the Keybirds (8-9, 5-1) in a two-run second inning. The other run scored on an error.
The Eagles, who were held to three hits in the opener, managed only one hit in this game, a Braxton Perkins single in the third inning. Justin Irgens and Ekblad combined for 10 strikeouts for Williston.
Jamestown will host the Mandan Chiefs in a nine-inning non-counter game on Monday at Jack Brown Stadium.
