
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) -Stutsman County Commissioners unanimously passed an Emergency Declaration during a meeting held on Monday, June 23, at 9 a.m. The declaration followed discussions with various department representatives detailing damage sustained across the county from recent storms.
Jessica Moser, Emergency Manager, reported a significant increase in call volume, with 318 calls received between Friday and Saturday. She also noted that 20 individuals displaced by the storms were housed in the meeting rooms at the Sheriff’s office.
Jesse Christianson, County Road Superintendent, highlighted extensive damage to shops, pickups, and other equipment. Christianson also mentioned if you notice and road signs that are downed or misplaced to email highway@stutsmancounty.gov with that information.
Dylan Kleinjan from the Park Department indicated that Lakeside Campground was the most severely impacted area as of this morning, potentially remaining closed throughout July. He described a major tree blocking a roadway at lakeside. Klienjan also mentioned on the west side of the Reservoir there are damaged docks as well as an overturned fishing pier. Additionally, trees were reported down at the Boat Club Ramp, obstructing road access, and at Parkhurst. More damage possible to areas not yet overlooked.
Mark Attleson with Maintenance provided an update on the Courthouse, stating that three trees and a large branch that had fallen have already been cleared. A broken window is getting a quote in the near future.
Sheriff Kaiser reported hail damage to vehicles at the Sheriff’s office. While the building itself appeared to be in good condition, a roof inspection was still pending.
